Helen Laura Ashley trained as a Textile Designer in the UK gaining a Combined Hons in Textile Fashion and Art History. With over 25 years experience in the design industry Helen offers a uniquely personalized service. She has designed for fashion, bed linen, swimwear, childrenswear, ceramic home wares, and stationery. She has also illustrated several books and now has her own successful kids colouring brand called ColourMeArt which is now sold in over 250 outlets nationwide. Probably best known for her hand painted florals or well drawn illustrations, Helen has sold artwork globally thanks to her London based agent. Her illustrations are sold under licence for an Australian homewares company but you can also purchase her designs through her Etsy, society6 and redbubble artist shops.
Helens’ clients include Sheridan Bed linen, Martin and Savage, Collette Dinnigan, Alex Liddy Ceramics, Oshkosh, Jantzen, Seafolly, Pillowtalk and Phil Taylor Stationery.
The majority of Helens’ work is hand-painted or drawn so artwork flows organically and the finished product is one of quality and quirkiness rather than appearing a product of mass production.
Helen’s studio is called The Art Room. Located in an old industrial paint factory now called Precinct 75, Helen manages and shares this space with 25 different creative characters . When she is not painting, she teaches here too.
Helen lives in Sydney with her husband, three children and two dogs.
